Mapping Cellular Seascapes was developed over the course of three months studying information mapping in the watercolor medium under the teachings of Professor of Art, Richard Yarde at the University of Massachusetts. After going through my own recovery with the beginnings of cervical cancer, I immersed myself in the world of cellular biology and found parallels with cancer cells to worn circular sea stones of the Maine coast. I found beauty and irony in both the microscopic as well as the natural world; that both these sceneries could look so beautiful and mysterious and at the same time be sick or polluted beneath the skin or invisible to our eyes.
